HARO

Help A Reporter Out – Most of us have a unique knowledge base that we seldom think of –it could be some technical or industry expertise that is not common knowledge.  There is a unique service called HARO that is becoming increasing popular with reporters who are looking for information on specific subject matter.  For customers I will monitor the service and alert you if information in your area of expertise is being sought.  If your information is used, you may get a mention as an
industry expert and enhance your credibility in the market.   (On the other hand, if you attempt to just pitch your product then you’re likely just wasting both your time and the reporters.)

Public Relations

Traditional Public Relations is alive and well today.  While offline and online public relations are deeply intertwined, there are aspects that businesses will want to take advantage of that can’t be accomplished online – such as speaking at conferences and participating in community events.  Regardless of which medium is used, companies need to be creative and understand the unique information/service that they provide to their community and who would be interested in their message.  I’ve said it in many places in this site, the key is to develop a message that resonates with the audience and you need to resist the hard sell of your product/service.

Leverage your Public Relations efforts by integrating your offline and online delivery.  I can help you make sure your press releases are optimized for the web and also take advantage of new forms of outreach such as Social Media. Also another aspect to consider is reputation management.  You should know if your company is being talked about and whether the conversation is positive or negative.  If positive, then jump in and thank the person for the comment. If negative, don’t just ignore and hope the issue will go away, usually the best way to handle is to privately the person who has a complaint and see if you can address their concern.
